Or why there are clouds in the sky and rivers on the ground? Well, it’s all because of something amazing called the water cycle! It’s like a big team where water keeps moving around — from the ground, to the sky, and back again.

Let me tell you how it works!

☀️ Step 1: The Sun Heats Up Water

When the sun shines on lakes, rivers, or even puddles, it makes the water warm. The warm water turns into tiny invisible gas called water vapor. This is called evaporation. It’s like when water disappears from a wet towel if you leave it outside.

☁️ Step 2: The Vapor Goes Up

The water vapor rises up into the sky where it is cooler. When it gets cold up there, the vapor turns into tiny drops of water. These drops come together to form clouds. This part is called condensation.

🌧️ Step 3: The Clouds Get Full

When the clouds get too full of water, they become heavy and can’t hold the drops anymore. So guess what? The drops fall down as rain (or snow, if it’s very cold). This is called precipitation.

🌊 Step 4: Water Comes Back to Earth

The rainwater falls into rivers, lakes, or the ground. Some of it goes into the soil and helps plants grow. Some water runs into streams and rivers and flows back to the ocean. This part is called collection.

🔄 And Then It Starts All Over Again!

After that, the sun comes out again, heats the water, and the whole water cycle starts again. It never stops! That’s how water keeps moving around the Earth.

💡 Why Is the Water Cycle Important?

Because of the water cycle:

We get clean water to drink

Our plants and animals stay alive

We have clouds and rain to cool the Earth

So next time you see a raindrop or a river, remember — it’s just water going on a journey around the world! 🌍💧

By Alisha Namusisi P5 G Have you ever wondered where rain comes from?
